Nicola and Joe’s Cape Town wedding
Guests arrived from all corners of the world to witness Nicola and Joe’s Cape Town wedding. When a singer marries a fire fighter, it’s going to happen with the bang! The guests were insisting on the couple getting married in Cape Town, so they can all have the excuse to visit this beautiful part of the world. And what a brilliant idea it was!
The couple met in Abu Dhabi, where Nicola was singing her heart out and Joe was making sure nothing goes up in flames. The beautiful La Sposa wedding dress came from Abu Dhabi, so did the colourful crowd of trusted friends, cheering the couple every step of their Cape Town wedding. England was also strongly represented by impeccably dressed young men with a brilliant sense of humour.
The bridal party was getting ready at the Aquarius suites in Milnerton, with the perfect view of the Table Mountain in the background. The girls, of course, took the penthouse, and it was just enough space for all the dresses, makeup and accessories. It was so special to watch the girls enjoy seeing each other after a long time of being away and getting ready for Nicola and Joe’s Cape Town wedding! Talented Liesl and her team did her makeup magic on all the girls and the bride. We all sighed when Nicola turned around with her smoky eyes and a main of bright red curls! The bridal party walked out in turquoise Converse sneakers, and the bride in white ones. The dress was hand-embroider by a bridal house in Abu Dhabi. The seamstress in Abu Dhabi added the entire layer of turquoise flowers to the train. We couldn’t believe the precision of craftsmanship!
The open air ceremony was conducted at the venue, with vibrant flowers and a bedouin tent behind. After the couple exchanged rings and kissed passionately, the guests showered them with colourful rose petals. We organised the local fire station to open their doors for us, so the bridal party jumped into a limousine and went over to play with fire trucks and helmets. The fire station shoot was so much fun! The boys enjoyed trying the helmets on and pretending they are running for emergency. We also captured some romantic moments between Nicola and Joe, as they kissed and cuddled amongst the fire trucks. The groomsmen created “atmosphere” behind the couple by blowing clouds of baby powder into the air. It worked like a bomb! Nicola and Joe can treasure those moody fire station portraits from their Cape Town wedding!
The reception started with a fabulous Zulu dance performance. These men really give it all out and make sure international guests leave Cape Town impressed and entertained. The party carried long into the night and I’m sure it will be remembered and talked about for a long time. The guests enjoyed traditional South African food and hospitality. At the end, this is what we do best. Barbecue (here called braai) and party!
We wish Nicola and Joe many years together filled with love and joy. We hope they come visit us in Cape Town often!
