Uchenna and Wolé’s Nigerian wedding photography was a visual feast! This radiant couple has even caught the attention of one of South Africa’s most premium bridal magazines and was featured within weeks of their ceremony. Out photography and video team truly enjoyed this very special day, filled wit excitement and best wishes. Capturing this Nigerian wedding was a real treat!
Uchenna and Wole shared memories from their journey together with the magazine readers:
Where and how did you meet?
We met in Johannesburg through work. I actually interviewed him! It was all business at first because I was strictly against relationships at work, but somehow he wooed me and talked me into going on a date with him. We were friends for one year before he asked to court me.
How did he propose?
It was a total surprise for me. I was in the States for a couple of weeks when he sent me a couple of calendar invites for dinner dates, because he “missed me”. I casually got ready for date number one. Our car arrived at the Four Seasons Westcliff. He made reservations at The View, one of our favorite restaurants. When we finished our mains and were on desert, fireworks started going off randomly near Zoo Lake. It was beautiful, and I was in awe. He then said, “I don’t want to be your boyfriend anymore.” When I looked towards him he had a ring out and knelt down!
Please provide a short description of your wedding day?
Our wedding day was full of showers, sunshine, spectacular speeches, salsa and sundowners. We sat down and had tea together the morning of our wedding day before we split up to prepare for the ceremony. It was forecasted to rain that day, but neither of us were worried. It rained all morning and afternoon, but at the strike of three o’clock the rain stopped. I knew the rain was a blessing from above and cleared the way for a beautiful early evening wedding ceremony. At that moment I headed to the venue. I was ready to walk down the aisle.
If you could change one thing about your wedding day, what would it be?
Nothing. It was a perfect day. On second thoughts… maybe we should have had a dress rehearsal for our first dance; ‘Wole kept stepping on my dress!
What was the highlight of your day?
Our first dance. The mood lighting was just right, and it felt as if we were the only ones in the room. A close second would be us strutting into the reception with a brass band instrumental of Drake’s ‘Trophies’.
How did it feel to finally stand next to each other as husband and wife?
It was surreal and amazing at the same time. I was finally married to my best friend.
Where did you go on honeymoon?
We went to the Seychelles. Mahe and Silhouette Islands. Stunning.
What advice would you give to a soon to be bride?
Get a wedding planner! They focus on all the details as you focus on the concept. Practice your first dance in your wedding shoes and mock dress!
We enjoyed every moment of capturing Uchenna and Wole’s Nigerian wedding photography. This international couple is so comfortable in from o f the camera, it’s a dream to capture them together! Uchenna looked magical in her Vera Wang dress, next to the groom in a funky yes oh-so-stylish green suit. We loved the decor and the scenery of Cape Town Bishopscourt. We hope the moments captured in Uchenna and Wole’s Nigerian wedding photography serve as inspiration for many Brides in the future!
